Confirmation Academy

Temple Beth-El’s 8th—10th Grade Confirmation Academy program is held Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:15 PM. The curriculum focuses on important young Jewish adult themes and utilizes experiential and formal education models to facilitate a dynamic educational environment. A pizza and salad dinner is served at the beginning of class each week.

The eighth and ninth grade curriculum is highlighted by an annual weekend retreat at the URJ Camp Harlam with students from nearby congregations.

Our tenth grade students participate in a special retreat to Washington D.C. with students from 810 congregations throughout the United States. This retreat, which includes visits to Congressional members’ offices, is one of the featured and favorite programs of the students in Confirmation Academy.

The tenth grade year is the Confirmation year of the curriculum. Tenth grade students study with Rabbi Gluck and Rabbi Koppel and conclude their studies by leading the congregation’s annual erev Shavuot service. This service is one of the most inspiring and moving services within the Temple Beth-El liturgical calendar.
